Symbolic Self-PortraitWhat this art piece focused on was creating a portrait of ones-self, without using their facial features. This was what I drew because I felt that it represented my person relatively well. The reason I chose to draw a monetary type symbol was because I felt that it does impact my life but not in such a big way. And that is why it was kind of the background of the centerpiece. Within the dollar bill you can see that the number reoccurs, and that is mainly because it represents my current age and so I chose to keep it there. Overall I kept a lot of the images that can be found on a common dollar bill, with of couple of modifications of my own in order to make it new and for it to represent me. The background itself was meant to create a clear difference between my centerpiece and the background, allowing for a little bit of contrast..

Inspirational Half-Face DrawingThis art prompt focused a lot on practicing the usage of values when drawing black and white art pieces. The goal was to create a portrait of an inspirational person using black and white. The reason I chose to draw Benito Juarez is because he is one of my biggest inspirations. His background story gives us the evidence that no matter where you come from, you can still achieve great things. And this is a part of what inspires me to keep on going every day and to try my best wherever I can. I know that I wasn’t born into one of the best situations, but I know that I can create a good situation for myself. And to do this I just have to keep on going through my daily life and doing what people like Benito Juarez would do. Persist and the want for knowledge.

A room with a viewThis art piece was created because of a prompt that asked for us to sketch out what the best view would be, if we were looking out through any window. The reason I chose to to draw my view in this way because I felt that the only true window that I enjoy is the one from my room. And although I wasn’t able to replicate what I see exactly I felt that it truly made sense. And so I chose to keep it the way it was, simple but yet with the main parts that make up my backyard. It might seem a little lacking of color but that is to be expected in a very dry looking terrain.

SPIRIT aNIMALIn this art piece we had to represent ourselves with an animal of our choosing that we believed fit best to our person. And I chose to make mine a turtle. The reason I chose to draw a turtle as my spirit animal is because I felt that they resemble me in a weird manner. I like them because they are very calm and that is the type of person that I am and so I felt that I can relate to that. Another reason as to why I chose a turtle over any animal is simply because I have liked the animal for such a long time that I prefer it over any other animal. Not to mention it is a incredible animal that never ceases to amaze.

INANIMATE oBJECT dRAWINGIn this prompt we were asked to draw something of our choosing, as long as it was something that was inanimate. Therefor I chose to draw my stuffed animal gopher. The reason as to why I chose this was because I had very fond memories of when I was a child, and some of those memories involved the gopher. So I decide that it would be good to recreate something that I loved and held dearly. And this was the end result for the recreation of my stuffed animal.

Favorite Plant DrawingThis drawing was created because I chose to use a rose for my favorite plant. This is because I have always seen roses within my lifetime especially in my mother's garden. And so I would see them grow and change from the moment they were rose buds. This is why I became rather fond of roses and so I decided to draw one myself, I focused a lot on the petals which can have a lot of detail and then the rose stem which also poses its own details.

Grid Self-PortraitThe self-portrait was meant to help us work on recreating faces using grids and values. Here we have the final version for the art piece that I made of myself and it came out pretty good. I liked working on it because it allowed me to recreate a photo of me and just drawing it myself using a regular pencil. As you can see in the photo there are areas that are very shaded and some that are lightly shaded thus allowing for a little bit of contrast to help differentiate the foreground from the centerpiece.

Favorite pLant Drawing RemakeThis project is one that focused on changing what already existed and modifying it to make it new. So what I decided to do was recreate my old rose drawing and adding color to it with paint in order for it to be different. And it definitely does look much different from the previous drawing that I had.
