force of friction
The force of friction unit was a bit of an introduction and review of what geometrical transformations look like and how they can be recognized and classified. On just about any shape, if there is a change in position but the shape is still exactly the same we can say that it underwent one of these three changes: Translation, Rotation, and/or Reflection. A geometrical shape can go through any and all of these transformations all at once. If a shape translates, that means that it moved from one place to another without changing anything else. If a shape rotates, that means that it has been spun around it's point of origin and pivoted within a 360 degree radius. And if a shape reflects that means that the shape was "flipped" over, across an intersecting line. This unit allowed us to experiment for ourselves what its like to transform these shapes and how they can be classified.
