Within the past 2 years, Latin America and the Caribbean area, has received millions of immigrants from foreign and neighboring countries. Latin America and the Caribbean area received 9 million immigrants in 2016, and in 2017 they received 10 million. Between 2000-2015, international immigration rates declined. 75% percent of immigrants from Latin America move to the U.S., 8% move to Spain, the rest move within other countries in Latin America. People immigrate to Mexico, Dominican Republic, Belize, and Panama. Those immigrants most often come from Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Ecuador. Immigration in Latin America is different than what most people think when people are immigrating. There is not a huge language barrier between the country since most of the countries speak Spanish with only a couple countries with variegated languages.
